The World’s First Ddiesel Engine With a Thermal Efficiency of 53.09% is Released

At 10:00 am on April 20, the 2024 World Internal Combustion Engine Conference was grandly opened in Tianjin. Wan Gang, Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. Zhang Gong, Deputy Secretary of the Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, and Jin Donghan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of the China Internal Combustion Engine Society, and President of Tianjin University, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Under the attention of the world, the conference released the latest technological achievements of China’s internal combustion engine industry – the world’s first diesel engine with a body thermal efficiency of 53.09%, marking that China’s internal combustion engine industry has once again reached the pinnacle of world science and technology. More than 1,700 guests including Chinese and foreign internal combustion engine societies, Tianjin University, global academicians, experts, and research institutes witnessed this historic moment together.

Wan Gang, Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, Jin Donghan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of the Chinese Society of Internal Combustion Engines and President of Tianjin University, Tan Xuguang, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Internal Combustion Engines, Director of the National Key Laboratory of Internal Combustion Engines and Power Systems, and Chairman of Weichai Power, and Rick Boom, President of the International Society for Internal Combustion Engines (CIMAC), jointly unveiled the 53.09% thermal efficiency diesel engine.

He Nuobei, vice president of North Asia of TÜV SÜD Group, an international testing organization, and An Tiecheng, chairman of China Automotive Technology and Research Center Co., Ltd., respectively presented product test reports and inspection certificates to Weichai Power.

The technological achievement of the world’s first diesel engine with a thermal efficiency of 53.09% is a powerful testimony to Weichai Power’s fourth use of scientific and technological innovation to generate new quality productivity.
